Oil City Man Held for Court on Charges Related to ‘Large Amount’ of Marijuana

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The case against an Oil City man who has been accused of drug possession and related offenses has been held for court.

According to court documents, the criminal complaint against 49-year-old Gregory Rex, of Oil City, has been transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

According to Oil City Police, the incident stems from an April 19 incident in the city.

Police were called to the 300 block of Wilson Avenue around 1:46 a.m. for a report of a domestic dispute.

The suspect was no longer present when police arrived on the scene; however, during the investigation, a backpack containing a firearm belonging to the suspect was located. A “large amount” of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were also located in the part of the house that was secured and occupied by the suspect, according to police.

A felony warrant was subsequently obtained for the arrest of the suspect — 49-year-old Gregory Rex. He was later apprehended at a Polk residence by Franklin-based State Police.

Rex faces the following charges:

  • Manufacture, Delivery, or Possession With Intent to Manufacture or Deliver
  • Intentional Possession of a Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered
  • Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia
  • Possession Of Firearm Prohibited Firearms Not To Be Carried W/O License

He remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $50,000.00 monetary bail.

The case is currently working its way through the court system.
