OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is accused of assault and related charges following a domestic incident that occurred early Wednesday morning.

Around 12:49 a.m. on June 14, Oil City Police Officers responded to an active domestic assault at 112 Traction Street.

It was discovered that the male perpetrator — 35-year-old Jacob Sweeney, of Oil City — had been allegedly chasing the female victim around the house and would not let her leave, according to police.

He then allegedly began pushing her and throwing her into items around the house, police say.

Sweeney was taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment.

He faces simple assault and unlawful restraint charges.
