Oil City Man Injured after Motorcycles Collide in Clarion

MONROE TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A 63-year-old Oil City man was injured in a motorcycle crash in Monroe Township, police said.

The crash occurred on Sept. 15 when a motorcycle operated by Arnold Jones, of Oil City, experienced a mechanical problem while traveling south on SR-68 behind two other motorcycles.

Police said the malfunction caused Jones’ motorcycle to speed up and it subsequently traveled off the right side of the roadway.

Jones attempted to regain control and was able to steer back onto the roadway, at which time his left fender struck the right rear side of a motorcycle operated by Cathy S. Deschambeau of Franklin.

Jones motorcycle then proceeded traveling south and subsequently struck the left rear of of a motorcycle operated by 58-year-old Donald Guthrie of Strattanville.

Jones and a passenger on Guthries’ bike, 58-year-old Carol Guthrie, of Strattanville, sustained minor injuries in the crash.

No one else was injured.
