Oil City Man Injured in Rollover Crash on Route 428

ambulance-blurry-6-10PLUM TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A one-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 428 (Troy Center Road), in Plum Township, Venango County.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 2:26 a.m. on April 2, 21-year-old Sean A. Thompson, of Oil City, was traveling south on Route 428. He encountered a right curve in the roadway and lost control of his 2008 Toyota Sienna. The vehicle began sliding sideways, rotating approximately 22.5 degrees clockwise as it crossed over the double yellow center line, northbound lane, and white fog lane. The vehicle exited the east side of the roadway and impacted a ditch and then an embankment located along the east side of the road.

The vehicle continued to travel south a short distance as it re-entered the roadway with only its passenger side tires and then impacted a cluster of small trees with its front end. The vehicle rolled to its driver’s side and came to a final rest across both travel lanes facing approximately east, police say.

Thompson was using a seat belt and suffered suspected minor injuries.

He was transported to UPMC Northwest in Seneca.

Emergycare/Champmanville Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.

He was charged with a traffic violation.

State Police indicate the crash involved DUI.
