CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred on State Route 62, west of McPherson Road, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say around 5:15 a.m. on July 30, 74-year-old Embert H. Delong, of Oil City, Pa., and 28-year-old Edward J. Koleman, III, of Industry, Pa., were involved in the collision.

According to police, this crash occurred as a 2009 Ford F150 pickup — driven by Delong — was traveling south on SR 62 and was approaching a 2013 International Harvester — driven by Koleman — which was traveling north on SR 62 in the opposite direction.

Delong encountered a right hand curve in the roadway and lost control of his Ford pickup, crossing over the center line. The vehicle’s left front end impacted the International’s trailer’s left rear side, police say.

The International traveled a short distance north and pulled onto the east berm. It came to a rest on the berm facing approximately north, according to police.

The Ford pickup crossed over the northbound lane and impacted a guide rail on the east side of the roadway. The pickup then traveled over the guide rail and rolled down an embankment. It came to rest on its wheels, down the embankment on the east side of the road facing approximately west, police say.

Delong suffered minor injuries. Community Ambulance Service transported him to UPMC Northwest.

Koleman was not injured.

Both drivers were using seat belts, according to police.

Delong was charged with a traffic violation, police say.

Seneca Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
