CRANBERRY TWP., Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say a two-vehicle accident occurred Monday afternoon on State Route 257, at its intersection with Education Drive, in Cranberry Township, Venango County.

Police say 26-year-old Travis J. Dempsey and Keith L. Jones, both of Oil City, were involved in the collision.

According to police, around 3:55 p.m., a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt — driven by Dempsey — was traveling south on Route 257, following a 2016 Nissan VRS — driven by Jones. The Nissan slowed down suddenly for a vehicle making a right turn onto Education Drive, and the Chevrolet drove into the rear of the Nissan.

Community Ambulance Service transported Dempsey to UPMC Northwest for an injury to his hand.

Jone was not injured.

Both drivers were using seat belts.

Dempsey was charged with a traffic violation.

The Chevrolet was disabled, and Minich’s Towing removed it from the scene.

Seneca Fire Department assisted with traffic control.
