Oil City Man Jailed on $25K Bail for Alleged Theft of Vehicle

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin Police say a vehicle theft occurred on March 25 around 4:09 a.m. at Arbor Circle, in the city of Franklin, Venango County.

According to police, they received information about a stolen vehicle at 10 Arbor Circle, Franklin.

Upon investigation and assistance by local agencies to locate it, they gained information that Steven Wayne Mendez, 26, of Oil City, allegedly stole it and drove it to a known female’s residence in Oil City.

The Oil City police department was able to locate the vehicle in Oil City near the known female’s residence.

Mendez was subsequently arrested for a PFA violation.

Charges of Theft by Unlawful Taking and Driving While Operating Privilege Is Suspended were filed through District Court 28-3-01.

Mendez was arraigned before The Honorable Judge Andrew F. Fish and was committed to the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 straight bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, at 8:30 a.m.
