Oil City Man Pleads Guilty to Running Meth Lab

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT)  – An Oil City man pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge in the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.

According to online court documents, Daniel Lee Bailey, 28, Oil City, pleaded guilty to one count of the possession of red phosphorus with the intent to manufacture a controlled substance.

In the guilty plea negotiation, the following charges were dismissed:

– Deposits, Stores, Disposes Chemical Waste, Felony 3
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor
– Intentional Possession Controlled Substance By Person Not Registered, Misdemeanor (2 counts)

Bailey will be sentenced on February 27, 2017.

Details of the Meth Lab Bust

According to a previously-published story on explorevenango.com, on Monday, March 7, Oil City Police officers arrived at 72 Pearl Avenue to investigate an unattended fire.

During the investigation, Bailey emerged from an exterior basement door. While speaking to Bailey, officers say they observed a “flickering” in the window.

After obtaining consent to search the residence from Bailey, officers entered and located items consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Police then obtained a search warrant and subsequently contacted the Pennsylvania State Police Clandestine Lab Response Team.

Upon executing the search warrant, additional items located in the residence were found to be consistent with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Drug paraphernalia was also located in the residence.
