Oil City Man Sentenced in Road Rage Case

SUGARCREEK BOROUGH, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man has been sentenced in connection with a road rage incident that took place late last year.

According to court documents, Luke Andrew Smith, 23, of Oil City, was sentenced to confinement of 3 to 24 months less 1 day in the Venango County Jail. In addition to jail time, Smith has been sentenced with two years of probation.

This sentencing comes after Smith pled gulty to multiple charges including: Terroristic Threats, Stalking, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Use/Possession of Drug Paraphanalia, and Careless Driving.

The incident occured on December 16, 2013 when police say a traffic incident involving road rage occurred around 8:00 a.m. along Route 8, Front Street, Route 417 and Route 322.

Police said the suspect reportedly “menaced the victim” with a crowbar-type instrument.

Police say evidence was recovered and Smith’s vehicle was impounded.

No one was injured in the incident.

Smith was originally lodged in the Venango County Jail in lieu of $55,000 bail.
