Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Sunday, August 19, officers of the Franklin Police Department were dispatched to the area of 8th Street for a report of a blue Dodge Durango driving erratically.

According to the complaint, officers observed the vehicle coming into the city at a high rate of speed to the extent that the tires could be heard squealing as the vehicle attempted to negotiate curves. The officers also observed the vehicle driving in the center lane of 8th Street heading west in an attempt to strike a PSP cruiser traveling in the opposing lane.

The officers then utilized emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop, accelerating to a high rate of speed and committing multiple traffic violations and striking multiple occupied vehicles while attempting to flee from police.

The driver, later identified at Clay Geib, then wrecked the vehicle, disabling it, at the intersection of Allegheny Boulevard and Liberty Streed, and bailed out on foot, beginning to run north on Liberty Street.

The driver continued to run from officers in the Sheetz parking lot before being apprehended.

According to the complaint, the driver made several remarks about being under the influence of methamphetamine and exhibited behavior that led the officers to believe he was under the influence of methamphetamine.

Geib was arraigned at 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 21, in Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office.
