Oil City Police Calls: Public Intoxication, Suspicious Person, Theft, Warrant Served

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department responded to the following calls:

Public Intoxication at Town Towers

The Oil City Police Department responded to Town Towers around 7:00 p.m. on Monday, November 5, after receiving a call about a male in front of the building who was intoxicated.

The male, who was identified as a known 62-year-old Oil City man, was transported back to the Oil City Police Department, cited for public intoxication, and later released.

Suspicious Person on Colbert Avenue

The Oil City Police Department responded to an area of Colbert Avenue around 8:13 p.m. on Monday, November 5, after a resident called after seeing someone outside on the porch area of their residence. The resident reported the individual was wearing a black and orange baseball cap.

Officers arrived at the scene and searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the description.

Theft at North Side Country Fair

The Oil City Police Department responded to the North Side Country Fair around 7:46 p.m. on Monday, November 5, for a report of a theft.

Police viewed video footage of the area and observed the victim drop his cell phone near a gas pump. Moments later a white male in a red Chevrolet sedan then pulled up and picked up the cell phone and then fled the area.

The incident remains under investigation.

Warrant Served on Harriott Avenue

The Oil City Police Department responded to the area of Harriott Avenue for a report of a male possibly injured around 4:16 p.m. on Monday, November 5.

Police arrived and made contact with William Oliver, who advised that he was having a hard time walking because of a hip injury. Police contacted Oil City Fire to respond to check on Oliver and Rescue 7 responded, but Oliver refused medical treatment.

Oliver was then found to have a bench warrant out of Venango County Jail and was taken into custody. He was later taken to the Venango County Jail after he was unable to make payments on an unpaid fine.
