Oil City Police Calls: Retail Theft, Domestic Dispute, Traffic Accidents

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department responded to the following calls:

Retail Theft on Spring Street

According to police, misdemeanor retail theft charges have been filed against 55-year-old Gayle M. O’Brien, of Oil City, regarding an incident that occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, at the Country Fair Store located on Spring Street in Oil City.

Police say O’Brien was caught on store security cameras picking up a gallon of chocolate milk with a bag of merchandise she already paid for and walking out of the store without paying for the milk. The value of the milk was $5.29.

Charges are being filed through District Court 28-3-01.

Traffic Accident at Wilson Avenue and East Third Street

The Oil City Police Department responded to Wilson Avenue and East Third Street for a motor vehicle accident around 5:14 p.m. on Monday, December 24.

According to police, the driver of a vehicle failed to maintain his lane and struck another vehicle.

There were no reported injuries at the time of the crash.

The crash investigation is ongoing.

Domestic Dispute on West Front Street

Around 9:49 p.m. on Monday, December 24, police responded to a residence on West Front Street for a report of a physical domestic dispute.

Police say upon their arrival, the officers discovered a known male standing in front of the residence with a laceration on his head.

During the course of the investigation, the officers learned that the known man was involved in a physical altercation with a known female.

According to police, the man and woman had engaged in a verbal argument that turned physical, and the woman struck the man in the face with a cooking dish.

Police say the man is being charged with a summary count of public intoxication and disorderly conduct, while the woman is being charged with misdemeanor simple assault, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication.

Traffic Accident at West Third Street and Central Avenue

Around 6:25 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, police responded to West Third Street and Central Avenue for a motor vehicle accident.

According to police, the driver of a vehicle stopped at the stop sign on West Third Street and continued across Central Avenue when it was struck by another vehicle.

There were no injuries reported at the time of the accident.

The crash investigation is ongoing.
