Oil City Police Calls: Criminal Mischief, Harassment, Suspicious Activity, Disturbance

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — The Oil City Police Department responded to the following incidents:

Criminal Mischief on Martin Street

On Monday, September 3, a known Oil City woman arrived at the Oil City Police Department to file a report against her juvenile daughter.

The woman reported that in the evening hours on September 3, her daughter broke into a secured safe and stole a cell phone. She further stated that when she found the cell phone was missing, she went to the Oil City High School where she retrieved the phone from her daughter.

The juvenile is being charged with one count of Criminal Mischief, a summary offense.

Harassment on Smedley Street

Around 11:42 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, a concerned woman called to report that her juvenile daughter was receiving “racy” pictures from an unknown male over a social media account.

The unknown male stated he was 14 years old. The woman saw a picture of the male and did not believe him to be 14 years old.

This investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious Activity at the Days Inn

Between the hours of 10:48 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, Oil City Police Officers were dispatched to the Days Inn for possible drug activity in one of the rooms.

Upon their arrival, Chief Wenner spoke to the owners and was advised that two males and a female were staying in a room, and there was traffic in and out of the room.

The officers made contact with the occupants of the room and were able to ascertain that one of the individuals was on probation and was not to be in the city of Oil City. The individual’s probation officer will be involved following the individual’s return to DuBois.

Police say there were also items found in the room that could indicate possible drug use, but no drugs were located in the room.

No charges were filed.

Disturbances on West Second Street

The Oil City Police Department investigated a noise complaint in the area of West Second Street around 9:45 p.m. on Wednesday, September 5.

As the officers arrived at the residence named in the noise complaint, they noted it had no lights on inside and they could hear nothing from the outside of the house.

Officers attempted to make contact, but were unable to get any answer from the homeowners.
