Oil City Police Calls: Alarms, Domestic Dispute

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department responded to the following calls:

Alarm on Oak Grove Street

Around 4:17 p.m. on Friday, December 28, Oil City Police and the Oil City Fire Department responded to an unknown type alarm at a residence on Oak Grove Street.

Police say upon entry, the house was discovered to be abandoned, and the units at the scene were able to verify that the alarm heard was a smoke detector found in an upstairs bedroom.

According to police, the alarm was suspected of going off due to the increase in temperature that day.

All units cleared the scene without further incident.

Alarm on Seneca Street

Around 9:39 p.m. on Friday, December 28, Oil City Police responded to TeleReach on Seneca Street for a report of a burglary alarm.

According to police, units arrived at the scene and made contact with a keyholder who advised the officers that the alarm was set off accidentally and had been reset.

The officers then cleared the scene without further incident.

Domestic Dispute on Clearfield Street

Around 6:02 p.m. on Monday, December 24, Oil City Police responded to a residence on Clearfield Street for a report of a domestic dispute.

According to police, upon their arrival, the officers made contact with the female party involved who advised that her ex-husband, Kevin Whitmer, was at her residence discussing their child custody agreement.

Police say Whitmer got aggravated during the discussion and left the residence, slamming the front door on the way, causing the glass to shatter.

Whitmer was cited for criminal mischief for the damages caused to the front door.
