Oil City Police Calls: Domestic Dispute, Missing Children Report, Suspicious Activity, Theft

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department responded to the following calls:

Domestic Dispute on East Fourth Street

The Oil City Police Department responded to a residence on East Fourth Street for a report of a domestic dispute around 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5. The couple involved had engaged in an argument over the children at the house and the female involved was found to be at another residence, under the influence of alcohol and severely upset over the male involved.

The female involved agreed to stay at her mother’s house until they could work things out civilly.

Missing Children Report on Cedar Avenue

The Oil City Police Department responded to Cedar Avenue for a report of two missing children around 3:41 p.m. on Friday, October 5. The complainant stated she hadn’t known the location of her children for approximately two hours.

Oil City Police began an investigation when the children were found back at home and stated they were at a friend’s house playing.

CYS was advised of the incident and will be following up with the mother.

Suspicious Activity on Butler Avenue

A known female called the Oil City Police around 8:06 p.m. on Friday, October 5, to report she returned home and found her back door unlocked. She was afraid someone might be inside.

No one was found in the residence, and there did not appear to be any sign of a break-in. The resident stated nothing was missing from the residence.

Suspicious Activity City Wide

Around 7:51 p.m. on Friday, October 5, Oil City Police received numerous phone calls from people stating they heard a very loud explosion. Complaints came from different areas of the city.

Oil City Police Officers were unable to locate anything causing the noise.

Suspicious Activity on Colbert Avenue

Around 6:16 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, the Oil City Police Department responded to a residence on Colbert Avenue for a strong smell of marijuana emitting from the residence.

Police observed the homeowner smoking an unknown substance on the porch of the residence. When questioned about the smell, the homeowner stated he had just finished smoking marijuana.

All illegal drugs were removed from the house, and charges are pending.

Theft on Central Avenue

The Oil City Police Department received a report of a theft of a juvenile’s bicycle from the Oil City Library around 3:48 p.m. on Thursday, October 4.

Police investigated and eventually located the bicycle at a local’s house.

After retrieving the bike, police received information that the bicycle was stolen previously and the original reporting party is not the rightful owner.

Police are still investigating the incident.
