Oil City Police Calls: Man Found Dead in Oil City

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department responded to the following calls:

Overdose on Harriott Avenue

The Oil City Police Department responded to a residence on Harriott Avenue around 3:13 p.m. on October 9 for a report of an unconscious male, a possible overdose.

Oil City Police arrived at the scene and found the male in the downstairs bedroom, deceased. Police were advised the male had a history of abusing narcotics. An empty bottle of Clonazepam was found in the same area, the bottle of Clonazepam had approximately a month and a half worth of pills missing from the three-month prescription.

Police contacted the Venango County Coroner who removed the male from the house and will be conducting an autopsy.

Unwanted Individual on Glenview Avenue

Around 8:22 p.m. on October 10, the Oil City Police Department was dispatched to Glenview Avenue for a report of a male who had come to a residence and refused to leave.

The known male arrived at the residence requesting his belongings be returned to him.

Officers arrived at the scene and spoke with a known female who reported that the male had left prior to police arriving.

Officers cleared the scene without incident.

Mental Health Call on Grandview Road

Officers of the Oil City Police Department responded to the 700 Block of Grandview Avenue on Saturday morning for what was found to be a medical issue/mental health call.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Oil City Police Department was notified by Franklin-based State Police that they received a call from an individual in the 700 Block of Grandview Road who was reporting his girlfriend had been kidnapped and forced into a prostitution ring.

Officers made contact with the individual at his residence and spoke with him. During the conversation, the man could provide no evidence to the claims of kidnapping, in spite of his statements of having electronic evidence. As officers spoke with the man, they became concerned with his delusions and contacted the Venango County PICS unit to respond.

Upon their arrival, the PICS team member spoke with the man. Through continued conversation, police and the PICS worker learned that the man had a recent medication change which may have caused his confusion and delusions.

Venango County 9-1-1 was contacted for an ambulance to transport the man to UPMC Northwest.

Oil City Fire Department Rescue 7 and Community Ambulance responded to the scene, with Community Ambulance transporting the man. The man’s ongoing medical and mental health issues were addressed at UPMC Northwest.

Runaway on Harriott Avenue

The Oil City Police Department was dispatched to a residence on Harriott Avenue around 9:54 p.m. on October 13 for a report of a runaway juvenile.

Police responded and searched areas where it was believed the juvenile had been staying. Police were unable to find the juvenile and continue to search.

Mental Health Call on Bissell Avenue

Around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, the Oil City Police Department responded to Bissell AVenue for a suicidal male.

Police responded and spoke with the caller who advised he was having suicidal thoughts. The male was then transported to UPMC Northwest where he was committed into the mental health facility.

Water Line Break on Cowell Avenue

The Oil City Police Department was dispatched to the 600 Block of Cowell Avenue for a water line break around 6:48 p.m. on Saturday, October 13.

Police responded and contacted Oil City Public Works to respond. Public Works responded and will be conducting work in the area.
