OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Police Department is continuing the search for Darrell Banks Jr. regarding an incident that occurred on April 7.

According to a criminal complaint, on April 8, the Oil City Police Department received information from a known female caller that 19-year-old Darrell Banks, of Oil City, caused bodily harm to his live-in girlfriend.

Police attempted to make contact with the victim by returning to the residence where the alleged assault occurred. Although the victim was not there, a female juvenile who had witnessed the alleged beating was at the residence during the investigation. The juvenile told police she had seen Banks hit the victim in the face and “stomp” on her head, the complaint states.

On April 9, officers were contacted again by the known female caller reporting that she had direct contact with the victim and saw bruising on her arms and forehead, and the victim also had a swollen jaw. The caller stated that she would testify to the details provided, if necessary.

Officers made contact with the victim on April 9. She admitted that the incident with Banks did occur, but also advised officers that she would “deny” it, would not permit the juvenile in her care to testify, and that she had lied to the known female caller regarding the incident, according to the complaint.

While speaking with the victim, officers said they observed bruising to the victim’s wrist, elbow, and forehead, as well as observing that the victim had a swollen jaw.

A felony arrest warrant was issued for Banks on April 9 for the alleged attack.

He is wanted on the following charges:

– Aggravated Assault, Felony 1
– Intimidate Witness/Victim – Withhold Testimony, Felony 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2

Anyone with information regarding Banks whereabouts is asked to contact the Oil City Police Department at 814-678-3080.

Banks pleaded guilty on March 22 to an unrelated incident of assault stemming from a January 29, 2018 incident. He is scheduled to be sentenced for this case on May 8 at 9:00 a.m. in front of Judge Robert L. Boyer.
