OIL CITY, Pa. (ETY) — Oil City Police have filed theft charges against a local teen.

Court documents indicate that on Friday, April 16, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 18-year-old Chance Owen Taylor, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 4:47 a.m. on April 3, Oil City Police were dispatched to a location on Liberty Street for a report of a male drinking underage and possessing stolen property.

Police then made contact with a known man who advised that Chance Taylor had shown up at his residence under the influence and with multiple stolen items.

At the scene, police took possession of the stolen items, which were found to be two potted plants with built-in lights, a stinger shop vac, microfiber rags, and an 80-foot extension cord.

The known man told police that when Taylor showed up at his residence, he said, “Look what I got tonight,” the complaint states.

Police were also made aware of a public Facebook post involving Oil City residents talking about thefts that had occurred on the prior night. The individuals stated the thefts occurred on East Third Street, East Fourth Street, and Hiland Avenue, which are all in the area where Taylor resides.

Police then made contact with one of the individuals who had commented about having items stolen from a porch. The victim reported she had two flower planters with build-in lights stolen from her porch, according to the complaint.

Taylor was interviewed on April 10 and admitted to taking the potted plants, a chair, and a knife. He also stated that he took other items but didn’t remember all of the details due to smoking marijuana, according to the complaint.

The following charges were filed against Taylor through Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish’s office on April 16:

– Theft by Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 2
– Receiving Stolen Property, Misdemeanor 2

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on June 2 in Venango County Central Court with Judge Fish presiding.
