Oil City Police Searching for Hanging Basket Thief

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — According to the Oil City Police Department, a retail theft occurred early Saturday morning at Giant Eagle.

Around 7:50 a.m. on May 13, Sr. Patrolman Ragon was dispatched to the Oil City Giant Eagle located at 602 East Second Street for a theft call.

Officer Ragon spoke to store management and watched the video surveillance. The video showed that at approximately 2:26 a.m. on May 13, a perpetrator walked to the far end of the building near East Second Street from the door area and walked back north and grabbed approximately five hanging baskets of flowers.

The perpetrator walked back into the camera view around 2:39 a.m. and grabbed six more baskets of flowers and walked north back out of the camera range and did not return.

The perpetrator is a white male with a black hoodie with white decals on the back, sleeves, and left breast area; tan pants — possibly 511 style pants; and tan or light brown hiker-style boots. He was also wearing a black half-mask to cover the lower portion of his face. He is possibly between 5’5″ to 5’9″ tall.

Police have not yet released a photo or video of the perpetrator.
