Oil City to Bid Out for Paving Projects

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Oil City Council granted permission to put out for bid the 2018 paving projects.

Bids will be advertised on Tuesday, July 17, and will be opened on Friday, August 17.

The project will be in excess of $400,000.00 with funding coming from Liquid Fuels monies and Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds as well as water and general funds.

According to City Manager Mark Schroyer, the fact the specs for the project were able to be done in-house helped save the City between $10,000.00 and $15,000.00 on engineering costs.

The proposed roads to be resurfaced with CDBG monies include:

  • Wabash Avenue from Colbert Avenue to Glenview Avenue
  • Glenview Avenue from above Zemke Lane to Oak Grove Street
  • Oak Grove Street from Colbert Avenue to Glenview Avenue (through the intersection)
  • The proposed roads to be resurfaced with Liquid Fuels monies include:

  • Fisher Avenue from Oak Road to past Pleasant Street
  • Merritt Street from Plummer Street to Manning Street
  • Spruce Street from Duncomb Street to Plummer Street
  • Memorial Drive from Seneca Street to the end
  • Darr Street from West 1st Street to the End (25 mm, 1 coat)
  • The proposed roads to be resurfaced with Water & Sewer funds include:

  • Central Avenue – patch by 2nd Street
  • Manning Ally from Plummer Street to Wood Street (25 MM, 1 coat)
  • Alternative streets if there is money left over or more money becomes available would include:

  • Smedley Street from 1st Street to 3rd Street
  • Cowell Avenue from 1st Street to 3rd Street
  • Crawford Ally from Cooper Avenue to Gay Street
  • Hickory Street from West 1st Street to North
  • East Second Street from Wilson Avenue to State Street and from State Street to Central Avenue
