| February 14, 2018

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City woman is facing felony charges after a stolen gun was allegedly discovered at her residence.

According to court documents, the Oil City Police Department filed criminal charges against 39-year-old Jennifer Ann Fedorek, of Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 11:33 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, Oil City Police Officers and the Venango County Sheriff’s Department traveled to a residence on Orange Street in an attempt to serve a warrant on a wanted man, Benjamin Kachik. Authorities received a report that Kachik had been staying with Jennifer Ann Fedorek (Stevenson) at her Orange Street residence.

Fedorek answered the door and gave officers permission to check her residence for Kachik. Oil City Police Chief Wenner and Officer Deloe checked in a bedroom closet for him, and at this time, Chief Wenner and Officer Deloe observed a black Mossberg .270 caliber rifle.

Fedorek is known to be a person not to possess firearms due to prior felony convictions related to drug violations, according to the complaint.

On February 1, the registered owner of the Mossberg rifle reported that it was stolen from his home after the 2017 rifle season.

The registered owner said he was contacted shortly after December 27 by a known woman who informed him that his rifle was at the Oil City Police Department. He believes a known man stole his rifle; the man had access to his home and would have known where the rifle was located, the complaint states.

Fedorek was arraigned at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, in Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland’s office on the following charges:

– Receiving Stolen Property, Felony 2
– Possession Of Firearm Prohibited

She is currently free on $10,000.00 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21, with Judge Kirtland presiding.
