OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Police report an Oil City woman is facing charges after she allegedly stabbed a man with a pair of scissors, then stabbed herself.

According to Oil City Police, they received a report from UPMC Northwest of a female stabbing victim who had been involved in a domestic violence incident around 7:00 a.m. on August 13 along Crawford Street in Oil City.

A police investigation determined the incident started when Whitney M. Wade, 25, of Oil City, allegedly had an argument with a man over one of them stealing the other’s controlled substance prescription, police say.

The argument allegedly escalated to a point of physical confrontation and culminated with Wade stabbing the man in the left arm with a pair of scissors before he ran from the house with her in pursuit, according to police.

The man got into a vehicle and witnesses said Wade retreated into the residence and allegedly caused a self-inflicted stab wound to her left arm with the scissors, which was the reason she sought treatment at the hospital, police say.

According to online court documents, Wade faces charges of second-degree felony aggravated assault and first-degree misdemeanor simple assault.

Oil City Police report Wade was arraigned before District Judge Patrick Lowrey and placed in the Venango County Jail on $50,000.00 straight bail.

Police noted Wade is currently on supervision with the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, and an additional detainer was issued by that agency for the supervision violation and new criminal charges in this incident.
