SPRINGFIELD TWP., Pa. (EYT) – An Oil City woman was involved in a crash that occurred late Monday morning in Springfield Township.

According to Mercer-based State Police, around 11:21 a.m. on Monday, February 24, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Leesburg Grove City Road, just east of Outlets Drive, in Springfield Township, Mercer County.

Police say a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara, operated by 25-year-old Tyler J. Kelly, of Volant, was stopped at a steady red light on Leesburg Grove City Road in the southern most eastbound lane west of the intersection with Outlets Drive. A 2012 Ford Taurus, operated by 55-year-old Colleen M. Schmidt, of Oil City, was in the southern most westbound lane, making a left hand turn onto Outlets Drive at a steady green light.

According to police, Kelly failed to remain stopped at the red light and proceeded through it, striking Schmidt’s vehicle on the passenger side.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, and airbags in both vehicles were deployed.

No injuries were reported.

Both vehicles were disabled as a result of the crash.

Police say Kelly was charged with a traffic violation.
