Oil City YMCA Adds Cardio Dance, Extreme Fit

OIL CITY, Pa. — The Oil City YMCA has added some exciting new classes to their group exercise schedule in February.

Group exercise class sessions run monthly. Members can attend any or all classes for just $15.00 a month. The non-member price is $30.00 a month. Members and non-members register at the YMCA Member Service Desk prior to the start of the session.

All classes can be adapted to a beginner or advanced level for each participant.

The Oil City YMCA encourages participants to try any of the classes at no charge.

Core and More with Ali Adams
(6:15 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday and Wednesday)

Everybody wants better abs! But more than just looks, strong abs help contribute to overall core strength. This class has hit ‘em hard abdominal work firming up transverse, obliques, and rectus abdominus. Other muscle group exercises may be included in the class.

Ropes Circuit —
with Marcia Fox (6:15 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., Thursday)
with Adam Neely (6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., Tuesday)
with Erica Wassil (6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., Thursday)

This 30-minute class will consist of an intense series of 30 second intervals utilizing various exercises involving the battle ropes, free weights, and various plyometric movements. Come join the fun and try out a new workout!

Sculpt with Erica Wassil
(5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday)

Have you been looking for a class that specifically targets those “problem areas” of the body? If yes, then Sculpt is the class for you!

This class will provide a variety of free-weight exercises that will tone and tighten the entire body. The use of high repetitions and lighter weights will allow each participant to build strength, add definition, and reach his or her strength goals. Modifications will be provided, so all individuals are welcome to join.

Boot Camp with Erica Wassil
(5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday)

A popular interval class that mixes cardio and strength training into an intense 50-minute class. This boot camp class is designed in a way to be different all the time, and push our participants harder than they would push themselves. We want to keep you guessing — and
challenge you differently every class, targeting a variety of muscle groups with each exercise! Be prepared for some high intensity training, but keep in mind that modifications will be provided for all exercises. All are welcome to come and try out this class!

Kettlebell with Cheryl Cowan, Sheryl Pastor, or Adam Neely
(5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday)

This class utilizes kettlebells in order to build strength and endurance throughout the entire body. Each movement incorporates a variety of muscle groups which will create a leaner, tighter figure. Thanks to the various modifications, this class is beneficial to men and women of all ages and athletic backgrounds.

Group Cycling —
with Katie Port (5:15 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday)
with Steph Swope (6:15 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., Wednesday and Friday)

See consistent results while burning a high amount of calories and improving cardiovascular endurance in this non-impact class. Whether you’re a beginner or an avid cyclist, this class is for you — it’s modified for all levels! Come and enjoy the interaction, driving energy and beats from fantastic music and get one of the best cardio workouts you can do in a group exercise setting. The only competition is the one you have with yourself! Train like an athlete, ride like a racer, and maybe even sing a song or two!

Extreme Fit with Erica Wassil
(7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., Monday)

Burn calories and strengthen your entire body with a balance of exercises between upper body, lower body, and core. Designed circuit stations in the Training Room that utilize the TRX bands, plyo boxes, and much more. This class will be designed to be a HIGH intensity class and you will be sure to get a great total body workout. TAKE YOUR EXERCISE TO A HIGHER LEVEL with this inspiring class!

Cardio Dance with Emma Marszak
(6:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday)

Do you want to try a great class that feels more like a dance party?!? Try Cardio Dance! This class features fun rhythms and dance moves that are set to high-energy music. Before participants know it, they’re burning calories and their energy levels are soaring. It’s easy to do, effective, and totally exhilarating.

Body Bar with Sandy Baughman
(5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday)

Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, this class will give you a total body workout. You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

The Oil City YMCA hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m, and Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
