Oil City YMCA Announces Hiring of New Gymnastics Head Coach

OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City YMCA has hired a head gymnastics coach for the upcoming season.

Heather Marvin, of Oil City, has accepted the Oil City YMCA Gymnastics Head Coach position.  Marvin comes to the YMCA with a background in gymnastics coaching, having been a gymnast herself for 11 years.  She has coached for over 20 years for various programs and teams, including coaching at local YMCAs. Heather brings with her USA gymnastics and YMCA gymnastics certifications and experience.

Heather Marvin will host a Gymnastics “Meet the Coach” night on Monday, July 22, for anyone who is considering joining the Oil City YMCA competitive gymnastics team.  She will be available to talk to potential gymnasts and their parents.  Light refreshments will be available.  All gymnasts returning to the Oil City YMCA Competitive Gymnastics team are encouraged to attend as well.

The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars is a competitive gymnastics program for children in Venango and surrounding counties. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at Levels 2-8. The Tri-Stars compete in the Western PA YMCA league beginning in October and continuing until May. YMCA competitive gymnasts have grown through programs like Flip ‘N Dip and Fundamental Gymnastics for ages 3+, held at the YMCA.  Registration for those programs will be held at a later date.

FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS – AGES 3+  (September – May)

Youth are introduced to skills in bar, vault, beam and floor routines. For children wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibility and agility. Fundamental Gymnastics meets Monday & Thursday from 5 – 6 pm.

FLIP & DIP – (September  – May)

A 30 minute gymnastics lesson followed by a 30 minute beginner swim lesson for ages 3-5. *Hint: Kids wear swimsuits for the gymnastics lesson for a quick transition. Parents must stay for the program to help with the transition. Register by the first of each month. Flip n’ Dip is held Thursdays from 5 – 6:05 pm.

Hours

The Oil City YMCA hours are Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
