Oil City YMCA Announces September Program Registration

OIL CITY, Pa. – The Oil City YMCA has announced program registration for multiple programs that begin this fall.  Registration is available at the YMCA or online at www.oilcityymca.org.

NFL FLAG FOOTBALL – Begins September 10

The Oil City YMCA has teamed up with the NFL to bring you NFL Flag Football powered by USA Football for grades 1-5.  In this program, players will participate in both the skills and drills aspect of the game, along with live gameplay.  Practices take place on Tuesdays at the Hasson Youth Sports Field and will last 8 weeks starting Tuesday, September 10 (5:30—6:30 pm).  Each player will receive a free NFL reversible jersey of their favorite team.  Younger, less experienced players will play for the AFC and the older, more experienced players will play for the NFC.  Cost is $35 for members and $55 for non-members.

FALL SOCCER- Begins September 7

This six week soccer program begins September 7 for ages 3-4 (9 am), ages 5-6 (10 am),  grades 1-2 (11:30 am) and grades 3-5 (12:45 pm).  The program will teach skills through fun drills for the first three weeks.  Games will be played during the remaining three weeks.  Teams will be formed for each age group. Soccer meets on Saturday mornings.  All participants receive a t-shirt.  $27/Members and $45 Non-Members.

KIDS YOGA – Begins Sept. 3

A Yoga for kids age 6-11 is an exciting program that will help with balance, strength, endurance, and aerobic skills held Tuesdays from 6:15-7 pm.  Yoga for kids can help your child socially and academically by providing a better focus, increased memory, and improved behavior. Nicole Shreve teaches the class.  All supplies are provided. $25/Members; $40 Non-members or $6/Members, $10/Non-members per class.

FREE YMCA FOOD PROGRAM – Begins September 5

Our Food Program is offered free to any child through the age of 18.  Healthy meals are offered Monday and Thursday evenings throughout the school year from 6:30—7:30 pm in the multipurpose room.  Enrichment activities including homework help, swimming, open gym and games are available 5:30 –6:30 pm.

PRE-K GYMNASTICS—Ages 3-5  -Begins September 9

Youth in Pre-K Gymnastics learn basic skills and fundamentals.  This class is great for building strength while learning coordination and balance. Pre-K Gymnastics meets Mondays from 4:30—5:00 pm.  Limit 15 children per class. Monthly Fee is $15/Members and $27/Non-Members.

FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS—Ages 6+ – Begins September 9

Youth are introduced to skills in bar, vault, beam and floor routines.  For children wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibilit,y and agility.  Fundamental Gymnastics meets Monday & Thursday from 5:15—6:15 pm.  Monthly fee is $32/Members and $55/Non-Members.

GYMNASTICS TEAM – Begins September 9

The gymnastics team consists of gymnasts who have the desire to compete.  The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at levels 2-9.  Team practices are Monday/Thursday 5:30-7:30 pm and other times TBA.  For more information, please call Head Coach Heather Marvin at 814-677-3000.  Team Fee is $50 per month.

FLIP & DIP – Begins September 5

A 30-minute gymnastics lesson followed by a 30-minute beginner swim lesson for ages 3-5.  *Hint:  Kids wear swimsuits for the gymnastics lesson for a quick transition.  Parents must stay for the program to help with the transition.  Register by the first of each month.  Held Thursdays from 5-6:05 pm.  $20/Members; $40/Non-members.

INTRO TO FITNESS—Teens Ages 13-15 – Held Monthly

Work out with our personal trainers in a fun and educational setting.  The focus of the class will be on weight training and proper gym etiquette.  This program meets on  Tuesdays from 3:30—4:30 pm.  The class is limited to five participants.  Please register in advance at the Member Services Desk to reserve a spot.  Intro to Fitness is free to YMCA Members and others will pay $20 a month.


Members of the club will have opportunities to experience adventures like zip-lining, hiking trips, kayaking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball and more.  To participate in the adventure, members will earn the privilege by volunteering for service activities within the community.  For more information contact Jen Kissell-Dudek at 814-677-3000.  New members are always welcome.        Adventure Club meets the first Wednesday of the month, 6 pm at the YMCA.  Cost: Free/Members; $20/Non-Members per quarter.


Bring your school ID or report card to claim your FREE YMCA Membership during your 7th grade year.  Offer good for those currently in 7th grade.


Nerf Nights is a fun and organized activity for youth ages 4+. (Youth ages 4-7 must have an adult present). Nerf Nights is held on the last Tuesday of the month from 6:30—8:00 pm.  Players are divided into teams.  Safety glasses are nerf darts are provided.  Equipment is available to rent at the YMCA. Pre-registration is required.  Call 814-677-3000.  $3/Members and $5/ Non-Members.  Rentals are $2.

TODDLER TIME – Starts September 4 & Held Monthly

Toddler Time offers little ones a safe environment to walk, run, tumble, climb, jump and explore. Songs, games, and equipment will provide a structured and active playtime while developing physical strength, flexibility, confidence and social skills.   Classes require parent or caregiver participation.  Classes will be held Wednesdays from 10:15 to 11: 00 am in the gymnasium.  Monthly Fee:  FREE/Members and $15/ Non-Members.

YOUTH ROLLER HOCKEY – Begins September 7

Drills and scrimmages every session will allow skill development for all participants.  Divisions for ages 4—17 based on age, skill level, and player safety.  Roller Hockey meets on Saturdays and one weeknight each week, weather permitting, September 7 through October 19, for approximately one hour per visit.  Register online at www.oilcityymca.org, at the YMCA, or by calling Mike Ebert at 814-758-9984. Cost is $15/Member and $20/Non-member.


For students in grades K-6.  30 minutes:  $15; 60 minutes:  $25.  Offered Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 5—7 pm, Other times by appointment.  Register at the YMCA.  Jessica Faunce is a certified teacher who can help your child increase academic skills.  Individualized instruction will be provided based on needs.

BACK TO SCHOOL BASH – Friday, September 20; 7—8:30 pm

A party at the Y for grades 6-8.  Prizes, refreshments, snacks, swimming and inflatables, gym and game room open.  Seventh graders join free for the school year!  FREE NIGHT FOR AREA YOUTH in grades 6-8.

HALLOWEEN HARVEST FESTIVAL – Friday, October 25 from 6—8:30 pm 

FREE event open to the community. Arrive in costume and trick-or-treat at the YMCA.  Join the costume parade. Win great prizes.  The Y will offer games, pool party, face painting, crafts, costume parade, prizes, bounce house and more.  Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase at the concession stand.  Free event for families and children of all ages.

This program begins September 23th for ages 5-18. Practices are held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 6:00 pm and Tuesday and Thursday from 4:30 –5:30 pm.  Regular season meets are held on weekends through February.   Join the team for a trial week, September 23-27, for $10!  Contact Jen Kissell-Dudek, head swim coach at 814-677-3000 for more information.  Program fee is $150 for the season.


Do you miss being part of a team?  Are you looking for a great workout and a way to measure your results?  AMYMSA Masters Swim league is for ages 18-100 and begins August 26.  Practice in your free time and on Fridays from 8—9 am with the group.  Participate in monthly meets at surrounding pools.  There is a championship meet at the end of the season.  Team fee:  $30 YMCA Members; $50 Non-Members. Are you interested in a great seasonal job or a career as a lifeguard? Learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, first aid & CPR you’ll need to work as a lifeguard. The class is online from September 23-27.  In-class sessions are held September 28 from 12-8 pm and September 29 from 12-5 pm.  Ages 15+. Cost is $175/Members and $200/Non-Members.


Pool party every Thursday and Friday evening from 7:00-8:30 pm at the Y pool.  Come and swim with the inflatable toys!  FREE to Members


A series of gentle exercises to improve joint mobility and relieve pain and stiffness.  Class meets in the YMCA pool. M/W/F 9-10 am.

Monthly fee:  Free for Members/$40 Non-members


An excellent form of exercise in the pool which is easy on the joints and offers all the benefits of a cardiovascular workout.  FREE to YMCA Members.

TAE KWON DO AGES 6 THROUGH ADULT – Starts September 11

Classes meet on Wednesdays in the multipurpose room from 6:30—8 pm with Chris Blauser.  Six week session fee is $22 Members and $32 Non-Members.

SENIOR OPEN HOUSE – Friday, September 13

Mark your calendar for Friday, September 13 from 8:30 am to 12:45 pm for a free luncheon and open house, open to the community.  We will be offering a free intro to fitness class in the wellness center at 8:30 am, free SilverSneaker exercise class at 8:30 am, Arthritis Aquatics class in the pool at 9:00 am, Pickleball in the gym from 9-11 am, Water Aerobics at 10 am, luncheon at 11 am and bingo at 11:20 am. Find out if you qualify for a free membership through your insurance!


Pickleball combines elements of tennis, table tennis, badminton, and racquetball.  The game is played indoors and utilizes a paddle.  Learn in our skills clinics or attend to play in games! Tuesday & Thursday Games 9 am—12 pm; Wednesday 9 am—10 am; Saturday 8 am –10 am.  FREE for Members; Day Pass rate applies for guests.


Luncheons are held monthly at the Oil City YMCA.  Gather with friends and socialize while eating some great food!  We ask that you pre-register prior to each luncheon and bring a covered dish to share!

The fall league will be held on Tuesday nights starting October 1st for ages 18+.  Teams must consist of 7-12 players.  Team colors will be assigned. League will consist of a round robin regular season followed by single elimination playoffs.  Cost is $250 per team.  Contact Max Krepps at 814-677-3000 for more information.

TURKEY TROT 5K RUN/WALK – Held November 23

The Turkey Trot will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019. The race will start and finish at the Samuel Justus Bike Trail in Oil City.  Awards will be presented for runners and walkers.  Register by November 5 to be guaranteed a t-shirt for $20.  Register after November 5th for $25.
