OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — The Oil City YMCA has announced youth winter programming through February.

YOUTH PROGRAMS

JR. NBA at the YMCA

Basketball season is here for grades Kindergarten through Grade 5! Learn fundamentals and skills through drills and live game play during this fun 8-week program starting January 13. Players receive NBA team jerseys.

Jr. NBA meets on Saturdays. Kindergarten 10:00 a.m.; 1st and 2nd Grade 11:00 a.m.; 3rd through 5th 12:00 p.m.

$25.00/Members; $40.00/Non-members

MINI-MOVERS

This class is for ages 3 to 4 and focuses on creative movement through rhythm and motion while learning coordination, self-awareness, and group participation. Children will express themselves through basic ballet, jazz, and tumbling skills in each class session. Classes are taught by our Wellness Director, Katie Port, who has a background in dance.

Classes are held Tuesday evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Monthly Fee: $25.00/Members and $40.00/Non-members

TUMBLE TIME

Tumble Time offers toddlers a safe environment to walk, run, tumble, climb, jump, and explore. Songs, games, and equipment will provide a structured and active playtime while developing physical strength, flexibility, confidence, and social skills. Classes require parent or caregiver participation.

Classes will be held on Wednesdays from 10:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the gymnasium.

Monthly Fee: FREE/Members and $15.00/Non-Members

FUNDAMENTAL GYMNASTICS

—Ages 3 and up

Youth are introduced to skills on bar, vault, beam, and floor routines. For children wanting to pursue cheerleading and gymnastics, this program will help increase strength, flexibility, and agility.

Fundamental Gymnastics meets Monday and Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Monthly Fee: $32.00/Members and $55.00/Non-Members.

GYMNASTICS TEAM

The gymnastics team consists of gymnasts who have the desire to compete. The Oil City YMCA Tri-Stars compete at levels 2-9.

Team practices are Monday/Thursday 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and other times TBA.

Team Fee is $50.00 per month.

TEEN ADVENTURE CLUB

Members of the club for kids age 12 to 18 will have opportunities to experience adventures like zip lining, hiking trips, kayaking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball, and more. To participate in the adventure, members will earn the privilege by volunteering for service activities within the community.

Adventure Club meets the first Wednesday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the YMCA.

INTRO TO FITNESS—Teens Ages 12-15

Work out with a wellness coach in a fun and educational setting. The focus of the class will be on weight training and proper gym etiquette.

This program meets on Wednesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The class is limited to five participants. Please register in advance at the Member Services Desk to reserve a spot.

Intro to Fitness is free to YMCA Members and others will pay $20.00 a month.

COMMUNITY YOUTH VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

The Community Youth Volunteer Program is open to Venango County youth between the ages of 10 and 18 . Participants in the program earn “time dollars” for each hour they volunteer up to 80 hours in a calendar year. The “time dollars” are credited to the volunteer’s account at the rate of $4.00 an hour. The value of the hours volunteered can be redeemed for gift cards which can be used at participating area businesses.

TAE KWON DO

Classes for ages six through adult meet on Fridays at 6:00 p.m. in the gym. Six week session fee is $22.00 Members and $32.00 Non-Members.

New sessions run January 5 through February 9 and February 23 through March 30.

ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ CHALLENGE

Push yourself to the limits and escape the winter blues! Swim the perimeter of “The Rock” and complete 32 miles in three months. Challenge begins January 2 and ends March 31. For ages 14+.

INDOOR TRIATHLON

Run, bike, and swim in our indoor

Triathlon held February 19-23 at the Y. Sign up for a time slot to compete! Awards will be given for females, males, and teams.

$15.00/Individual; $35.00/Team

FLIP & DIP

A 30-minute gymnastics lesson followed by a 30-minute beginner swim lesson for ages 3 to 5. *Hint: Kids wear swimsuits to the gymnastics lesson for a quick transition. Parents must stay for the program to help with the transition.

Register by the first of each month.

Held Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

$20.00/Members; $40.00/Non-Members.

WAVES OF FUN & FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Pool party every Thursday and Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Y pool. Come and swim with the inflatable toys!

GROUP SWIM LESSONS

$5/MONTH WITH FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS

For kids ages 6 weeks-12 years. ALL SWIMMERS MUST BE REGISTERED AT THE MEMBER SERVICE DESK BY THE 1ST OF EACH MONTH.

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS

By arrangement with the Aquatics Director. Four 30-minute lessons a month, once a week.

CHILD WATCH—FREE FOR MEMBERS

For children ages 8 months-7 years while you work out at the YMCA!

Child Watch is available in the YMCA facility for children 8 months to 7 years old, while their parents are using the YMCA facilities. Parents must remain inside the YMCA. Parents using our Child Watch service will receive a copy of a handbook and will be required to comply with all guidelines. For evening Child Watch, service will be discontinued at 7:30 p.m. if there are no children by that time.
