OIL CITY, Pa. — What makes the YMCA so much more than a gym? Community partnerships, youth sports, senior activities, summer day camp, and social activities offer variety.

YMCA programs and events bring people together, strengthening friendships and nurturing the potential of all participants. No one is turned away due to the inability to pay.

Summer Swim Team is held from June 6th through August 11th on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at the Y. Summer Swim Team will be focusing on stroke technique, nutrition, and team building skills. Participate in 60 minutes of swimming and 30 minutes of dry-land. The team will have the option to participate in meets and end the season at the Keystone State Games. Contact Jen Kissell-Dudek at 814-677-3000 for more information.

Register today for YMCA Summer Day Camp at Camp Coffman. Twelve spectacular themed weeks will be held this summer. Children ages 6-12 may attend Summer Day Camp. Transportation is provided. The entire family can participate in the Paul Richey Memorial 5k, Kids’ Run and Half Marathon event on June 11, 2016. The event celebrates the life of fallen State Trooper Paul Richey and all proceeds benefit the Oil City YMCA and Franklin YMCA. The Oil City YMCA Triathlon will be held at Two Mile Run County Park on Saturday, June 11, 2016. The course consists of a 1/4 mile swim, an 11-mile bike, and 3.1 mile run. Race day registration is from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. Wave starts will be determined by the number of athletes. Pickleball is a racquet sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. The YMCA will provide equipment needed, or you may bring your own. Pickleball open play for all ages will be available on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Learn skills from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. SilverSneakers Luncheons will be held on June 24th, July 15th, and August 26th. Bring a friend and join our pot-luck style luncheons in the Multipurpose Room. Adult Summer Basketball League is back for ages 17+ beginning June 21st. Join as a team for an 8-week season, plus playoffs. Games begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. Teams are guaranteed 7 regular games. Cost is $250.00 per team. Contact Max Krepps at 814-677-3000 for more information.

Track your calories in the Wellness Center, Pool, and Weight Room during the YMCA Summer Slimdown Challenge. Self-record calories on designated charts found in the Wellness Center. Register now for $10.00 at the Member Services Desk. Prizes will be awarded to the top male and females. Everyone who registers by July 1st receives a T-shirt.

Member Appreciation Day — Smoothies are free at the YMCA on June 20th from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

Youth Footer Hockey meets Saturdays for ages 4+ for those who want to get a feel for hockey without wearing skates. Youth Summer Roller Hockey meets one weeknight and on Saturdays and is for kids that want inline hockey action. Both programs emphasize skill development in a fun, family oriented atmosphere. Members of the Teen Adventure Club will have opportunities to experience adventures like zip lining, hiking trips, kayaking, whitewater rafting, horseback riding, mountain biking, paintball, and more. To participate in the adventure, members will earn the privilege by volunteering for service activities within the community. For more information contact Jen Kissell-Dudek, Aquatic Director at 814-677-3000. New members ages 12-18 always welcome. Adventure Club meets the first Wednesday of the month, 6:00 p.m. at the YMCA.

Teens in Intro to Fitness will work out with our personal trainers in a fun and educational setting. The focus of the class will be on weight training and proper gym etiquette for ages 13 to 15. This program meets on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The class is limited to five participants. Please register in advance at the Member Services Desk to reserve a spot. Intro to Fitness is free to YMCA Members and others will pay $20.00 a month.
 
Three, four, and five year old classes meet for the Preschool Class—Summer Session —June 1—August 18th, Mon., Wed., Fri. from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. with a fee of $95.00 per month. Fun themes and kindergarten readiness activities, swim lesson on Monday, and gym class on Wednesday made a well-rounded week. Snack included.

Waves of Fun is a pool party every Thursday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Swim at the YMCA with the inflatable toys in the pool. The pool party is free for members.
  
Group Swim Lessons are FREE with Family Memberships. This program is for kids ages 6 weeks-12 years and adults with Y Family Memberships. ALL SWIMMERS MUST BE REGISTERED AT THE MEMBER SERVICE DESK BY THE 1ST OF EACH MONTH. Please visit the web site at www.oilcityymca.org/YouthAquatics for class descriptions and non-member fees.

Arthritis Aquatics is a series of gentle exercises to improve joint mobility and relieve pain and stiffness. Class meets in the YMCA pool Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. This class is free for members and $40.00 for Non-members.
 
Aqua Aerobics is an excellent form of exercise in the pool which is easy on the joints and offers all the benefits of a cardiovascular workout. The class is now FREE to YMCA Members.

Join our Power Lifting Competition on July 23, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. There will be three lifts: bench press, squat, and dead lift. Divisions will be split by age. Participants can register for one, two, or all three lifts. All participants receive a t-shirt. Champions will receive prizes. The cost is $30.00 per person. Contact Max Krepps at 814-677-3000.
 
Adult Roller Hockey Leagues are held throughout the summer at the Hasson Heights Dek Hockey Facility. You don’t need a team. Our Roller Hockey Staff will connect you with players of your skill level. Camp Coffman Activities are available by advance reservation.  Zip lining, Climbing and Free Fall, Team Building, Paintball, and Trail Rides are available to the public. Call the Oil City YMCA for reservations at 814-677-3000.
