OIL CITY, Pa. — Are you looking for a great challenge to motivate you to lose a few pounds before the start of summer? The YMCA is hosting a Summer Slimdown Challenge that pays those who lose 5% or more of their body weight in eight weeks.

The challenge officially begins May 1 and runs through June 27.

Participants will weigh-in at the YMCA on Tuesday, May 1, from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. or on Wednesday, May 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Other times are available by appointment.

Exercise and diet will be up to the participants, but help is available through personal training at the YMCA.  New members will also receive guidance through the free Smart Start program, which includes three sessions with a wellness coach to help reach goals.

The fee to enter the challenge is $25.00 for members. $25.00 per participant will be placed in a “winners pot” for those who lose 5% or more of their body weight. Winners will take home the cash in an even split.

Non-members are also welcome to take part in the challenge. The non-member fee is $25.00, plus a $10.00 administrative fee. The fee does not allow YMCA use during the challenge, but participants are welcome to work out at the Y on a guest pass up to six times in 2018.

Final weigh-ins will be conducted at the YMCA on Wednesday, June 27, and Thursday, June 28.
