OIL CITY, Pa. — Is your child considering a fun new sport this fall and winter? The Oil City YMCA Swim Team offers kids a great opportunity to improve swimming skills, set goals and compete in a Christian environment where everyone gets equal time in the water.

Swimmers compete in individual and relay events. There are no bench warmers.

The Oil City YMCA River Otters Swim Team competes in the Northwestern Pennsylvania Swim League and swimmers have the opportunity to compete from October through March. The cost of the program is $135. Children who participate on the swim team must be members of the YMCA.

The program begins September 25. Practices are held at the Oil City YMCA Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A trial week for new swimmers will be held September 18 to September 22 at the Oil City YMCA. New swimmers will be able to try swim team for a week before deciding to join. The cost for the trial week is $10.00, which will apply to the cost of the program if the child decides to join.

Jennifer Kissell-Dudek is the Oil City YMCA Aquatics Director and Head Swim Coach. She can be reached at 814-677-3000.
