Oil City YMCA to Host Pickleball Open House on July 18

| July 10, 2018

OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – Oil City YMCA Pickleball will welcome the community on Wednesday, July 18, for a Pickleball Open House.

The event is from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Open House will allow anyone interested in Pickleball to watch and learn skills and game rules, and jump in and try the game. Local Pickleball players will be on hand to help.  Attend for an hour or stay for the morning.  There is no equipment necessary except for tennis shoes.

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided.

“Pickleball is very popular at the Y,” said Wellness Director Katie Port.  “The game is extremely fun and excites friendly completion between players.”

“We have all ages participating daily at the Y.”

Pickleball has been a staple activity at the Oil City YMCA for about two years, and the sport is growing in numbers.  Many people enjoy it for the camaraderie and exercise it provides.

Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple, and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

The YMCA offers skills clinics and games!

Games are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
Beginner clinics are held Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Pickleball is free for members.  A $5.00 drop-in fee applies for non-members.
