OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — The Oil City Main Street Program’s “Music on the Square” concert series begins on Thursday, June 7, with a 7:00 p.m. performance by the band Encore.

Encore has been playing in the tri-state area since 1991. The band features Dave McMillan of Meadville (guitar), Mike Lotz of Waterford (keyboards and bass), and Pat Ross of Erie (drums). McMillan, Lotz, and Ross all are lead singers and combine exceptional harmonies with a song list that includes a variety of music from the 50’s, 60’s 70’s and 80’s thru today’s top hits as well as country, Motown, and even some disco favorites. Together, the three members have over 125 years of combined experience.

“Music on the Square is a great way to spend a weekday summer evening,” stated Kathy Bailey, Main Street Manager. “We invite you to come early and visit our shops, eat dinner downtown and then walk over to enjoy the live music in the square.”

2018 “Music on the Square” events are planned for the first Thursdays of June, July, and August: the lineup includes Encore on June 7, Acoustic Earle on July 5, and Chuck Justice and the Junkyard Lawyers on August 2. A “bonus” event is also planned for Wednesday, July 25 (during the Oil Heritage Festival) featuring Max Schang’s Trio of Blues. Live music is also in the works for several Market Fest events planned this summer, in conjunction with the Oil City Farmers’ Market which is also coordinated by the Oil City Main Street Program.

“Music on the Square” was spearheaded by the Oil City Main Street Program in 2015. Performances are held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on event days in the center paved area of the Oil City Town Square, and are free and open to the public. Attendees may bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on. Concerts are supported by the Jack Rowley Charitable Trust.
