Oil City’s Petro Named District 10, Region 7 Region Player of the Year

ERIE, Pa. (EYT) — Oil City’s Noah Petro was named the District 10, Region 7 Player of the Year by the Erie Times-News as voted upon by the Region’s Coaches.

Petro helped lead the Oilers to their second straight District 10 Class 5A title, and a 12-1 overall record, the school’s first 12-win season. Oil City advanced to the second round of the PIAA playoffs.

On the year, Petro ran for 2,162 yards and 26 touchdowns and made 64 tackles on defense with two sacks and two fumble recoveries. He had 10 100-yard rushing games including three games over 200 yards and a career-high of 363 in the regular-season win over Meadville.

Joining Petro, who was also a first-team running back, on the first-team All-Region offense were Franklin’s Ian Haynes (QB), Cade Adams (WR) and Dalton Buckley (WR) and Oil City teammates Cam Russell (All-Purpose) and Mario Fontanazza (offensive line).

Venango County players on the first-team defense included Fontanazza (defensive line), Oil City’s Max Latona (defensive line), Brayden Crocker (linebacker) and Holden Stahl (defensive back).

On the first-team special teams was Franklin punter George Coon.

Crocker also made second-team offense as a tight end and was joined on the second-team offense by teammate AJ Angros (offensive line) and Franklin’s Josh Nettles (offensive line).

Oil City’s Caleb Bish (linebacker) and Franklin’s Eli Stewart (defensive back) were second-team defensive selections.

Coon was named the second-team placekicker with Oil City’s Latona named the second-team punter.

Titusville players who were named to the Region 6 All-Star team included wide receiver Landon Palma (first team), Joe Jacobson (first-team offensive lineman and first-team defensive lineman), Charlie Nicholson (second-team running back), Levi Nosko (second-team offensive lineman), Sebastian Titus (second-team linebacker) and Laird Stove (second-team defensive back).
