SUGARCREEK, Pa. (EYT) — One person was flown from the scene and three others were rushed to UPMC Northwest following a two-vehicle crash on Sunday afternoon in Sugarcreek Borough.

According to Franklin-based State Police, around 3:35 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Patchel Run Road at its intersection with Meadville Pike in Sugarcreek Borough, Venango County.

Police say 76-year-old Rita L. Beatty, of Franklin, and 31-year-old Nakita M. Simpson, of Utica, were involved in the collision.

Beatty was traveling on Patchel Run Road toward Route 322 in a 2014 KIA Soul, and a 2000 Ford Windstar, driven by Simpson, was traveling on Meadville Pike Road toward Meadville. Beatty failed to stop her KIA at the stop sign at the intersection of Meadville Pike and Patchel Run Road and struck the Ford Windstar in the passenger side of the vehicle.

Reno Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance transported Beatty to UPMC Northwest for suspected minor injuries.

Utica Volunteer Fire Company and Relief Association transported Simpson to UPMC Northwest for suspected minor injuries.

A passenger in Simpson’s vehicle — 29-year-old Tiffany A. Griffin, of Meadville — was flown to Hamot Medical Center for possible injuries.

Cornplanter Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance transported another passenger in Simpson’s vehicle — a five-year-old female — to UPMC Northwest for possible injuries.

Beatty was charged with a traffic violation.
