One Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 8

SANDYCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin-based State Police, a two-vehicle accident occurred around 11:00 a.m. on June 27, on State Route 8 (Pittsburgh Road), at its intersection with Debence Drive, in Sandycreek Township, Venango County.

Police say 62-year-old Thomas E. Parker, of Polk, Pa., and 18-year-old William A. Young, of Warren, Ohio, were involved in the collision.

According to police Parker attempted to make a left turn onto Route 8 from Polk Cutoff. His 2011 Chevrolet Silverado entered onto Route 8 and pulled into the path of a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, driven by Young. The Cruze was unable to stop and struck the Silverado’s driver’s side with its front end.

Parker and a passenger 59-year-old Mina M. Parker, of Polk, were using seat belts and escaped injuries.

Young was transported to UPMC Nortwest for injuries of unknown severity.

He was using a seat belt.

The Cruze sustained heavy front end damage and was rendered inoperable. Lowrey’s Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.

Parker was charged with a traffic violation.

Sandycreek Township Volunteer Fire Department and Community Ambulance Services assisted at the scene.
