FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — According to Franklin Police Department, a two-vehicle accident occurred on Liberty Street, in Franklin, Venango County.

Police say around 10:19 a.m. on August 17, 55-year-old John P. Winkler, of Guys Mills, and 57-year-old Linda J. Kuhns, of Oil City, were involved in the collision.

According to police, a 2013 Ford Transit Connect, driven by Winkler, was stopped for traffic in the 1200 block of Liberty Street westbound in the left-hand lane awaiting for a bicyclist to cross the street in a crosswalk. (The crosswalk is clearly marked with a yield to pedestrian sign.)

Police say a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Kuhns, was traveling westbound in the 1200 block of Liberty Street in the left-hand lane of travel directly behind Winkler’s Ford and was distracted, failing to view the stopped traffic in front of her and impacted the Ford.

Community Ambulance Service transported Winkler to UPMC Northwest Medical Center for medical treatment, according to police.

Kuhns did not seek medical treatment at this time, police say.

Both the Chevrolet and the Ford sustained minor damages, and neither vehicle required towing.

Kuhns was cited for careless driving, police say.
