HICKORY TWP., Pa. (EYT) – Marienville-based State Police have released information on a one-vehicle crash that occurred on Monday evening on State Route 62, in Hickory Township, Forest County.

Police say this crash occurred around 6:15 p.m. on January 15, south on Route 62, as 34-year-old Steven K. Walters, of West Hickory, was “admittedly driving while distracted and driving at a speed too fast for existing roadway conditions.”

According to police, when Walters returned his attention to the roadway, his 2006 Kia Spectra was entering the oncoming lane. He attempted to apply the brakes and subsequently lost control while traveling across the oncoming northbound lane. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and slid into a ditch. It then continued to travel for approximately 163 feet before coming to a final rest.

Walters was not injured in the crash. He was not using a seat belt.

He was issued a traffic citation.

Frank’s Auto assisted at the scene.
