Opal E. Eshbaugh, 97, formerly of Welsh Street, Kane, died Thursday morning, November 2, 2017, at The Lutheran Home at Kane, where she had been a resident for several years.

Born November 25, 1919, in Newmansville, Clarion County, she was the daughter of William M. and Florence H. Carbaugh Near. On January 31, 1941, she married Howard L. Eshbaugh, who preceded her in death in 2011.

Opal had worked for Olympic Luggage in Kane for 44 years. Later, she was a volunteer at The Lutheran Home at Kane, its Residential, are Center and the former Kane Community Hospital.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Kane.

Several nieces and nephews survive, plus her friend William “Yogi” Osmer of Kane.

Preceding her in death, besides her husband and parents, are a daughter Carol Ann Peganoff, two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 1:00 until 2:00, at which time a service will be held there with the rev. Bruce Kumher, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Kane.
