P. Darell Rankin

Member_158170P. Darell Rankin, 64, of Emlenton, formerly of Shippenville, passed away of natural causes early Wednesday morning, March 2, 2016 at his home in Emlenton.

Darell was born in Grove City on May 30, 1951. He was the son of the late Paul D. and Jeanine Campbell Rankin. Mr. Rankin was a graduate of Franklin High School. Darell enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the company of his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Knox Rod and Gun Club, and was a life member of the NRA. Mr. Rankin had been employed as a finisher at Astro Manufacturing in Shippenville. He was of the Methodist faith.

Mr. Rankin was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Juanita S. Best, who died February 4, 2003. He is survived by a step-daughter, Sheree Ort, and her husband, Greg, of Emlenton, a brother, Jeff Rankin and his wife, Lynn, of Emlenton, his half-sister, Stephanie Rankin, of Parker, and four step-grandchildren, Andrew Kinney, of Butler, Austin Ort, Justin Ort and Tara Ort, all of Emlenton; as well as a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove Street., Saint Petersburg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 1 p.m Saturday, with the Rev. Ronald Hunsberger, a United Methodist Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Allegheny Cemetery, near Foxburg.
