FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced a new Land Management Supervisor for the Northwest Region.

George J. Miller, who has spent many of his 21 years with the Game Commission working as a Land Management Group Supervisor, has been named to oversee all land and habitat management operations in the ten county region.

The six land management groups contain in excess of 202,683 acres of State Game Lands.

A total of 11 Food and Cover Crews located throughout the region are used to accomplish this important work.

Miller fills the vacancy created when Richard T. Cramer was promoted to Director for the Northwest Region.

Region Director Cramer said, “Miller is highly qualified to assume his new responsibilities. George’s education, experience, and enthusiasm will serve him well as he assumes the role of leading the region’s land management operations.”

Miller grew up in Brookville, Jefferson Co.

Upon graduation from high school he served four years in the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, he completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science at Penn State University.

Miller began his Game Commission career when he was selected to attend the 23rd class of the Ross Leffler School of Conservation in June 1995.

Upon graduation in March 1996, he was assigned to the agency’s Special Investigation Unit.

In 1999, he was promoted to Land Management Group Supervisor for Greene, Washington, Beaver and Allegheny counties in the Southwest Region.

In 2001, he was granted a voluntary transfer to the Northwest Region as the Land Management Group Supervisor covering Forest and Warren counties.

In 2005, he requested a voluntary transfer to his home area of Clarion and Jefferson counties. He served as Land Management Group Supervisor there for the past 11 years.

The Northwest Region includes the counties of Butler, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Jefferson, Mercer, Lawrence, Venango, and Warren.
