Pamela Jean Crooks-Kolcun

Pamela Jean Crooks-Kolcun, age 57, of Spring Creek Rd., in Sigel, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, October 2, 2017, in the comfort of her home.

She was born on October 5, 1959, to the late Richard Arden and R. Jean (Hetrick) Crooks, in Brookville, PA.

Pam graduated from the Brookville High School with the class of 1977.

On July 21, 2001, she married Eric Jeffrey Kolcun in Cook Forest; Eric survives her.

She has an extensive work history which included working at Blakes Hardware from 1978 – 1983, she was a “Meter Maid” from 1983 – 1986, and she worked at Crooks Clothing, where she also acted as bookkeeper and seamstress from 1986 – 1998, an independent landlord for various residential properties from 1998 – 2008, and a housewife who was a wonderful homesteader which including duties of raising animals, gardening, and loving with great pride that which she was responsible for.

Pam was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville, PA.

She had a jovial personality and had a firm grasp on her self-worth and a strong faith in a higher being.

She was always concerned with the welfare of others and she was a devout “Grammy” to her 2 grandchildren.

Pam had a wide knowledge of holistic medicine, aromatherapy, astrology, and planetary concepts.

She loved canning and harvesting produce, riding her bike, canoeing, and sunbathing.

She loved music with a particularly strong connection to jazz.

A big part of making memories with her family and friends was camping at Big Country Camp Ground, she also loved being able to travel to Erie, PA, camping as well.

During her years with Crooks Clothing, she was very involved in the town activities and organizations including support for Victorian Christmas, the Jefferson County Historical Society, Laurel Festival, and various YMCA events.

In addition to her husband, Pam is survived by 1 daughter; Liza Suzanne Crooks of Moon Twp., PA; 1 sister; Dianne (Thomas) McCauliffe of Brookville, PA; 5 brothers; Dr. Kelly (Diane) Crooks of Washington, PA; Kevin (Kathy) Crooks of Reynoldsville, PA; Steve Crooks of Clarion, PA; Dave (Barbara) Crooks of Irwin, PA; Keenan Crooks of Brookville, PA; 2 grandchildren; Layla R. Witherite and Collin H. Witherite.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, October 5, 2017, from 2 – 5 pm, at the McKinney – d’Argy Funeral Home, Ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.

A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation, beginning at 5:00 pm, and officiated by Rev. Melissa Kraus.
