OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin-based State Police say around 12:17 a.m. on March 24, a one-car accident occurred on State Route 8, 49 feet south of Kaneville Road, in Oakland Township, Venango County.

According to police, 21-year-old Nicholas T. King, of Oil City, was traveling southbound on SR 8 at a speed too fast to safely negotiate a left curve in the roadway.

King’s 2003 Chevrolet Impala went sideways, traveled off the right edge of the roadway at the curve, hit the ditch, traveled up a steep embankment, overturned, and rolled back onto the roadway, police say.

The car also struck a Cornplanter Township road sign at the township line. The car came to a rest on the roadway on its wheels in the southbound lane, according to police.

King was using a seat belt and was not injured.

A passenger in King’s vehicle — 19-year-old Bethany L. Weingard, of Titusville — suffered minor injuries.

EmergyCare transported her to Titusville Hospital.

She was also using a seat belt.

King was charged with a traffic violation.
