Paul Albert Weibel, 91, of Oil City, died at Oakwood Heights, Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Born August 24, 1925 in East Brady, he was a son of the late Martin Frederick and Anna Ethel Curts Weibel.

Mr. Weibel was a graduate of Clarion State Teacher’s College, and worked for 33 years until his retirement as a teacher at Oil City High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.

Paul had been a member of Second Presbyterian Church and later of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Mr. Weibel loved teaching 7th grade Social Studies and was proud to have sharpened the minds of so many students over the years.

He enjoyed cooking, baking, and traveling around the United States. Paul was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan. Spending winters in Bradenton, FL, he attended many Pirates spring training games.

On August 4, 1950, he was married in Butler to the former Catherine Viola Stewert who preceded him in death on September 8, 1984. He was remarried on April 12, 1986 in Oil City to the former Mary Ann Gilbert who preceded him in death on September 21, 2013.

He is survived by three children, a son Joseph John Weibel and his wife Donna of Charlotte, NC, and two daughters, Paula Jean Curzi and her husband Dan of New Wilmington and Karen Maureen Simons and her husband Steve of Universal City, TX; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mary “Medzie” Schultz and Ana June Hiles.

In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City, on Thursday, August 24 from 4 to 7 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Friday, August 25 with the Rev. Mark Rusnak, chaplain of Ascera Care Hospice, officiating.

Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial be made to the Venango County Humane Society.
