Penn State Extension, Forest County Business Alliance to Host E-Commerce Seminar in Tionesta on January 27

| January 14, 2017

TIONESTA, Pa. – Penn State Extension and the Forest County Business Alliance are hosting an E-Commerce seminar on January 27 in Tionesta.

The seminar “Selling Beyond the Farm Stand: E-Commerce for Farm Businesses” is for farm and food businesses that are looking to expand their reach beyond the market stand for increased profits, the ability to reach more customers and sell products to customers who live miles away.

This one day workshop will be held on January 27th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.at the Forest County Penn State Extension office at 668 Elm Street in Tionesta, Pa.

The workshop includes guest presentations from e-commerce professionals, networking opportunities, and access to cutting edge information.

The concept for this workshop grew out of a needs assessment that was conducted in Forest County in 2014 for farm and food businesses. The assessment showed that many farm business owners were not using computers on a regular basis but wanted to learn more about selling their products to customers that live miles away. E-commerce, whether learned or outsourced, can be a way to bridge the gap between rural and urban communities.

The course objectives are as follows:

  • – To provide farm and food businesses the tools needed to start or improve online sales,
  • – Expand the customer base of those who are currently marketing and/or selling food products, and
  • – To increase profitability of farm and food businesses in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Forest County Business Alliance has offered partial sponsorship of the workshop, which has resulted in a reduced registration fee of $55.00 for an entire day of information on e-commerce.
