PennDOT, Safety Partners Holding Car Seat Safety Check in Franklin

FRANKLIN, Pa. — Thursday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and PA Traffic Injury Prevention Project (TIPP) will hold a free car seat check at the Franklin Fire Department.

The seat check will be held from 1 PM to 4 PM Thursday, August 17 in the lot behind the fire department at 113 13th Street, Franklin. Attendees can access the seat check from Elk Street. Walk-ins are welcome and participants are encouraged to take the owner’s manuals for their vehicles and car seats.

Pennsylvania law requires children under age 2 must be secured in a rear-facing car seat until the child outgrows the maximum weight and height limits designated by the car seat manufacturer. Children age 2 to 8 must be buckled into a car or booster seat that is appropriate for the child’s age, height and weight.
