RICHLAND TWP., Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation invites the public to view a display of plans for a bridge replacement project on Route 38, in Richland Township, Venango County.

The bridge, over Richey Run, is on Route 38 about 1.4 miles north of the intersection with Route 208. The bridge is a 14-foot-long concrete slab structure, which was built in 1922 and is classified as structurally deficient. On average, about 1,100 vehicles a day use the bridge.

The existing bridge will be replaced with a 12-foot-long reinforced concrete box culvert, with construction expected to take place in the summer of 2018.

A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for about three weeks. The detour route is 24 miles long and would use Route 38, Route 208, Route 338, and Route 322.

Plans for the project will be on display as follows:

Dates: October 19, October 26, November 2, and November 9, 2017
Time: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Richland Township Building, 1740 Rockland-Nickleville Road, Emlenton, PA 16373

The purpose of the display is to introduce the project and to receive public input regarding any questions or concerns. Also, it is to receive any public input regarding historic or archaeological sites in the area that could be affected by the project as required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (cultural resources).

The meeting place is handicapped accessible. The project documents will be made available in alternative languages or formats if requested. If you need translation/interpretation services, we ask you contact us no later than November 10, 2017. Contact Bob Bell, Project Manager, email robertbell@pa.gov, or phone 814-678-7161.
