OIL CITY, Pa – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation invites the public to view a display of plans for a Railroad Crossing project on Route 322 in the City of Franklin, Venango County.

The railroad crossing is on Route 322 (13th Street), about 0.3 miles north of the intersection with Route 62 (Liberty Street). On average, about 15,000 vehicles a day use the roadway.

The existing railroad tracks will be raised approximately 10-inches and the adjacent roadway profile will be adjusted to meet the new track elevation. Construction is expected to take place in the summer of 2018.

A detour will be required during construction and is expected to be in place for one week. The car detour route is 3.5 miles long and would use Route 417, Route 4002, and Route 62. The truck detour is 28.2 miles long and would use Route 417, Route 8 and Route 62.

The purpose of the display is to introduce the project and to receive public input regarding any questions or concerns. Also it is to receive any public input regarding historic or archaeological sites in the area that could be affected by the project as required by Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (cultural resources).
