PennDOT to Hold Public Meeting for Williams Road Bridge Study

williams road bridgeOIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting at 6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, May 2, regarding a study of the Williams Road Bridge in Plum Township, Venango County.

It will be held at the Chapmanville Volunteer Fire Department, 458 Meadville Road, Titusville.

The bridge, over the Middle Branch of Sugar Creek, is located on Williams Road, just east of the intersection with Route 427 (Bradleytown Road) and about one-half mile west of the intersection with Lesh Road.

The bridge was built in 1880 and is posted with a three-ton weight restriction. The bridge is used by approximately 100 vehicles a day, on average.

The meeting will be held in conjunction with a regularly scheduled work session of the Plum Township Supervisors.

The study is intended to evaluate needs for improvement to the Williams Road Bridge in Plum Township. The study area generally consists of Williams Road Bridge and the roadway in either direction approximately 250 feet.

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the historic bridge rehabilitation analysis, describe the study process, review the next steps and gather public input.

Anyone with information regarding cultural resources (historic or archaeological) in the study area should attend this meeting.
