Pennsylvania Game Commission Seeking Information on Bear Hit on Roadway Near Barkeyville

BARKEYVILLE, Pa. (EYT) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission is seeking information after a roadkill bear was found missing parts of its body.

A male black bear, weighing approximately 500 pounds, was recently hit on State Route 8 South, north of Barkeyville, Venango County, during the overnight hours of Wednesday, September 25.

The dead bear was reported after it was hit, and when State Game Warden Daniel Carl arrived at the scene, it was discovered that the bear’s head and paws had been removed.

If anyone has any information, or happened to see any vehicles pulled over in the area — specifically between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. — please report it to the Operation Game Thief Hotline at 1-888-PGC-8001.
