amber-alertMONTGOMERY COUNTY, Pa. (EYT) – Officials say a 7-week-old boy who was abducted early Thursday evening from the King of Prussia Plaza Mall has been found safe.

On March 31, 2016, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Ahsir Simmons was abducted from the King of Prussia Plaza Mall, located at 160 North Gulp Road, Upper Merion Township, Pennsylvania.

He was abducted from his stroller by an unknown black female.

Upper Merion Township Police Chief Tom Nolan says the suspect befriended the family of the infant at the mall late Thursday afternoon.

“Eventually they all wound up at the food court,” said Nolan. “They were sitting at a table at the food court for about a half of an hour.”

“The child was in a stroller and began to fuss,” continued Nolan. “Our suspect in this case asked if she could hold the child to try to calm him.”

Nolan says the child’s mother granted the suspect permission to hold the infant.

“At some point, (the child’s mother) goes to take a phone call and was dealing with other children.”

During this time period, Nolan says the suspect walked off with the baby.

The woman was caught on video surveillance fleeing with the child on foot towards Gulp Road.

According to police, the infant was found safe on Thursday evening.

Police did not release the name of the suspect or any further details surrounding the abduction.
